So they just made up a piece of paper that said it was worth $10,000 just to pass around? Could someone please explain this?

I’d like to see someone try to steal one of the $1M penny displays. I don’t think they’d get very far.

Supposedly, though, only the top layer of cash in the 3M advertisement is real.

It’s in a valley near a town called Ingleton in the north of england. (you are supposed to hammer a coin into the wood and bend it 90 degrees, for good luck)

P.S. I went with a 6th form geology trip n one of the group hammered in a £1 coin :D

I would assume that since the INTERNET hadn’t been invented, they had no way to reliably transfer larger sums of money around without using flatbeds. So they just made money that was worth more so it didn’t take up so much space.

Largest gold nugget ever found is a fake pic. Clue one is that the pic is in black and white except the nugget is in color. also it looks to be 5ft and only weights 640lbs while the largest gold bar is 18″X 9″X 7″ and weights 550lbs.

It’s how the dollar used to work. All paper money was backed by gold. The paper just represented the gold because, well, it’s pretty hard to lug around big bags of gold all the time. The $10,000 note just represents $10,000 worth of gold. The person would take the actual bank note to the bank and they would transfer the gold to them. That’s how it worked.

Interesting the high denomination bills - since electronic funds transfers became prominent, there is no need for them to be used for bank loans to other banks, so I’ll bet their extinct. I wish I had one as a collectible.

If the holocaust display ways 2.3 tons and contains 1 million dollars worth of pennies why is the abortion memorial, wieghing in at 156 tons, holding only a half a million dollars worth of pennies?

“If the holocaust display ways 2.3 tons and contains 1 million dollars worth of pennies why is the abortion memorial, wieghing in at 156 tons, holding only a half a million dollars worth of pennies?”

It says the enclosure weighs 156 tons. Not the pennies themselves

“If the holocaust display ways 2.3 tons and contains 1 million dollars worth of pennies why is the abortion memorial, wieghing in at 156 tons, holding only a half a million dollars worth of pennies?”
Just re-read it. The holocaust display has one million pennies in it not one million dollars worth of pennies. And the Abortion one has 50 million pennies.

    Hope that helps ya out

That pub is indeed McGuire’s Irish pub in good old Pensacola Florida. Right now the money count is about $850,000. Ah many a night spent on the stage of McGuire’s for me. If you are ever in town go there on a friday night and if you see a long haired gentlemen next to the entertainer that would most likely be me.

I remember reading somewhere that people used to exchange big rocks instead of money. It was some kind of a tribe I think. It is funny how money were invented and the fact that they are a fictive way of representing wellness, that all of us accept. A good post there!
